Kellett celebrates 50 years of learning

Kellett, the British International School in Hong Kong, is proudly celebrating fifty years as one of Hong Kong’s foremost international schools, renowned globally for excellence. 

Founded by parents in 1976 seeking a British-style education in Hong Kong, Kellett has evolved into a school offering rich and dynamic learning to over 1500 students of almost 50 nationalities. Five decades on, Kellett remains parent-governed, not-for-profit, guided by values of respect, kindness and integrity, and steadfast in its commitment to fostering a love of learning and confidence for life in all students.

Principal & CEO, Paul Tough, reflects on Kellett’s evolution. ‘Whilst the school has grown over the past fifty years, it remains remarkably true to the vision of our founding parents. To this day our parents, Board, staff and students, combine to form a unique supportive community that share the same values, the same vision for our students, our School and our place in Hong Kong.’

Chair of the Board of Governors and a parent at the school, Nick Marsh remarked, ‘As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we continue to build on the foundations laid by parents fifty years ago with the upcoming opening of a new Sixth Form Centre and ensuring many more families in Hong Kong will benefit from a Kellett education and being part of our unique community.’

Celebrations across the year include events in Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney, bringing together the global Kellett community of current and alumni students, staff and parents.

Ahead of fiftieth celebrations, the school launched Kellett Vision 2035 which seeks to build on the legacy of five decades of development. The ten-year vision sets out ambitious plans to ensure Kellett continues to inspire minds and enrich lives in its second half century and beyond.
