In early March Kellett School hosted a combined FOBISIA and COP21 Conference on Sustainability. We were delighted to welcome students in-person from schools in Singapore and Korea, whilst also running an ongoing student-led conference for the wider network of FOBISIA members. The events were a resounding success with fascinating and inspiring speakers, engaging workshops and an associated Exhibition, including our Year 10 students who shared details of their impressive Oceanography projects.

It was inspiring to see our students alongside students from across Hong Kong and Asia championing ideas and issues. Online workshops were provided for 150 students in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Myanmar, India, Nepal and Malaysia. Meanwhile on-campus attendees engaged with environmental organisations and heard about innovative projects being developed by our students studying Sustainability.

It was summed up by one of our visitors when asked, what was the most rewarding aspect of the day, commented, ‘the debate’ – and there was indeed, considerable opportunity for debate and making decisions as to what needs to be done and what can be done as first steps towards redressing the balance and preserving the planet.

A member of staff from The International School, at Park City in Malaysia remarked, ‘I was particularly impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of your students who ran sessions’.
