International School Library Day
On Monday 22nd October 2007 Kellett School again celebrated International School Library Day. Despite the fact that it was the first day back after a half term the KS2 children were a fabulous audience for our visiting International author – Ken Derby. Ken kept the children entertained with information about his life and he read a chapter from one of his books. The 50 copies of the book I initially bought have all been sold but I have ordered more which should arrive mid November.
Why not check out Ken's website where he has posted some photos of the event:

Foundation and KS1 children were treated to stories read by parent volunteers from all over the world, some classes listened to stories in different languages. The teachers and children enjoyed celebrating the day and I believe the parents had a good time too.

Book Competition
The standard and number of entries in the library book bag competition was amazing. I had a very difficult time choosing a winner. After much deliberation, I decided upon a Reception winner, one KS1 pupil winner and one KS2 pupil winner. Every child who entered the competition will receive a certificate that they will be given during their library lesson this week, as there are just too many to give out in assemblies.
THE WINNERS ARE:
Reception Winner - Ankit Kumar R2
KS1 Winner - Sam Hooper P1-7
KS2 Winner - Katherine Trantor P5-18
