Kellett Cares has chosen 4 charities to support for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Children’s Surgical Centre (Cambodia)
We have been supporting this charity for a number of years now.  CSC was established in 1998 by international health professionals who understand the need for rehabilitation in developing countries. CSC works to improve the quality of life for millions of poor and disabled people by providing free rehabilitation surgery. The surgeries these doctors perform include orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery, eye surgery, and facio-maxillary surgery, as well as rehabilitation for landmine victims. Each surgery costs approximately US$100. For more information visit their website at www.csc.org.

International Care Ministries

New to Kellett Cares this year, ICM works with the poorest of the poor in the slums of the Philippines.  It runs feeding, medical and livelihood skill training programmes; has established numerous pre-schools, a TB recovery shelter and an orphanage. The money Kellett Cares raises will be used to provide rice for several feeding programmes. We will also be collecting black school shoes and rucksacks during the year to enable children in these slums to attend school. For more information visit their website at www.caremin.com.

Half the Sky

Also new this year, this charity works in orphanages in China.  It provides training for nannies to look after the children and provides art and other supplies to enrich the experiences of the children in these homes.  The money Kellett Cares raises will be used to buy art supplies. For more information visit their website at www.halfthesky.org.

Crossroads International

We are continuing our support of Crossroads International www.crossroads.org.hk this year but in a different way. Crossroads is a registered non-profit corporation which takes Hong Kong’s superseded goods and redistributes them to people in need both locally and internationally. This year we are collecting bikes for Crossroads which can be used by adults to get to school or work and the children’s bikes we collect will go to nursery and other schools as play equipment. We are also collecting Wellcome stickers to get free pots and pans to give to Crossroads to distribute.
