Why learn French?
Kellett School, like most international secondary and primary schools in Hong Kong, offers French as a modern foreign language.
Worldwide, French ranks as the second foreign language most widely learned after English and is essential in the European community. Beside being a useful and beautiful language, it can be taken as a subject for A Levels, IB, GCSE, IGCSE, and Common Entrance for Boarding Schools in the UK.
Kellett also offers the Year 8 students to sit the DELF exams. DELF is the official French proficiency test offered by the Centre international d'études pédagogiques, equivalent to the English TOEFL.
In our school, French is now taught from P3 (beginner level) to Y8, 3 times a week. Over the years the French teaching material has been well developed. The well tested and tried methods we use at Kellett make learning French easy and enjoyable for children. Furthermore, parents do not need to know how to speak French : the children can do their homework without any help.
Working in the Language Laboratory once a week on interactive eLearning activities allows the pupils to progress fast on their pronunciation and understanding. Our "Lab" is very well equipped with a language specific software. |
