Simon Hamer
1988 to 1991
My sister (Merel Hamer) and I enrolled at Kellett half way through the 1988-89 school year. Merel in reception and I started in Mr. Millers' primary four. I finished Kellett and went on to the German Swiss International School for another three years before returning to the Netherlands. I completed the last years of a Dutch secondary school and am now a fifth year business student at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. I'm hoping to get my degree in about one year from now. However, during my study I have started up two companies, which are causing some delay in my studying progress.
I remember Kellett very well and always look back with a big smile. I still sing along with "Bright Eyes" every time I hear it, as it reminds me of the regular assemblies. Still no talent though, sorry Mrs. Steer!
I went back to HK in 2001 and on the last day of my stay (always stay an extra day!) had a chance to visit Kellett. It was after school time, almost everyone was gone. In an upstairs classroom however, I could hear a familiar voice. It couldn't be, but it was, Mr. Miller and Mr. Nevin. We had a drink and did some catching up. Although you never seem to have enough time for these things, it was still fantastic to see them again. I would love to speak to people from those days. Maybe at the reunion?
